Hi, I’m Abdullah.
I teach every lesson myself, so the person you speak to on the call is the person who teaches your child.
I have taught around 30 children one to one since 2022, mostly at GCSE. That is exactly why I now teach Year 6 and Year 7: nearly every gap I spent those years repairing — fractions, negative numbers, early algebra — started here, in the first year of secondary Maths.
I was educated at Eton College, took a grade 9 in GCSE Maths and A grades at A-level, and I am reading Physics at the University of Manchester. I teach from the UK, at weekend times that suit families in the UAE.
I am an independent tutor, not a school classroom teacher. Every lesson is planned around one child rather than a class, and parents are welcome to sit in on any lesson.

Small gaps now become big gaps later.
Year 7 moves faster and expects more independent work. A shaky understanding of the basics can make every new topic feel harder than it is, and the same ideas come back in every year up to GCSE.
- They understand it in the lesson, then get stuck on the homework.
- Their first Year 7 test results or Maths set were lower than you expected.
- Fractions, negative numbers or times tables still are not secure.
- They will not ask for help in class, so gaps go unnoticed.
- You can tell something is wrong, but not exactly what.
THE YEAR AHEAD
Where you are in the Year 7 year.
Gaps do not surface evenly. They appear at four or five predictable moments, and each one is easier to deal with before the next arrives.
- Late August
A new school and a new set
Most schools run a baseline test in the first few weeks. A child who was fine in Year 6 can land in a lower set after one bad morning.
- October
First topic tests, then half term
The first real marks come home. This is usually when “she is just being careless” gets said for the first time.
- December
First full report and parent meeting
The report gives you a level. It rarely tells you which topics produced it.
- January to March
Algebra, ratio and percentages arrive
Autumn is now assumed knowledge. Gaps that were survivable in the first term stop being survivable.
- April to June
End-of-year exams, then Year 8 sets
Next year’s set is decided on this work, and sets are harder to climb out of than into.
This is the usual shape of the year in British-curriculum schools in the UAE. Every school runs its own calendar, so check your child’s.

The first lesson is on me if it tells you nothing new. If the assessment in that first lesson does not show you something about your child’s Maths you did not already know, tell me within 48 hours and I refund that lesson’s share of the month: AED 300 at the founding rate, AED 450 at the standard fee.

“Why do we divide

Many children remember a rule without understanding it. I connect the calculation to a picture, ask them to explain it back, then give them a similar question to try on their own.

What does the monthly fee include?
It is AED 1,800 a month, or AED 1,200 a month for the first three families. That covers one 60-minute one-to-one lesson every week at an agreed weekend time, an assessment and personal plan in the first lesson, targeted practice with feedback, a written update every month, a written progress check at the end of every school term, and brief questions between lessons answered in scheduled support time. If your lesson day falls five times in a month, the fifth lesson is included. There is no joining fee.
Why is there a founding rate?
Because the first families join before the programme has any results of its own to point to. They take that chance with me, so the first three pay AED 1,200 a month instead of AED 1,800, and keep that rate for as long as their child stays. Families who join after them pay AED 1,800. It is the same programme at either rate.
What if the first lesson tells us nothing we did not already know?
Then you should not pay for it. Tell me within 48 hours of that lesson and I refund the lesson's share of the first month: AED 300 at the founding rate, or AED 450 at the standard fee. I can make that promise because the first lesson is a full assessment across eight areas, and it nearly always finds something a school report does not. It is one claim per family, and it does not affect your right to stop before the next month.
Are you a qualified teacher?
No, and I will always be upfront about that. I am an independent Maths tutor rather than a school classroom teacher, so every lesson is planned around one child instead of a class. I was educated at Eton College, achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Maths, study Physics at the University of Manchester and have tutored Maths one to one since 2022. I hold an Enhanced DBS check with a children’s barred list check, and parents are welcome to sit in on any lesson.
Is it for Year 6 or Year 7?
Both. It is for children who have just started Year 7 and for Year 6 children getting ready for it, following a British curriculum at a school in the UAE. If your child is in a different year group, message me: I teach Maths up to GCSE.
What happens on the free call?
It is a 20-minute Google Meet call. I will ask about your child’s Maths, what school has said and what you would like to change. Then I will explain how I would help, what it costs and which weekend times are free. If it is a good fit you can start straight away; if it is not, I will tell you honestly. There is no obligation.
How do the lessons work?
Lessons are live, one to one, on a video call at an agreed weekend time in UAE time. I teach from the UK. Your child needs a laptop or tablet, a reliable connection, paper and a quiet place to work.
How will I know it is working?
The first lesson includes an assessment, so we start with a clear picture of what is secure and what is not. You receive a written update each month and a written progress check at the end of every school term showing what has improved and what comes next.
Is there a contract?
There is no long contract. You pay monthly upfront and can stop by telling me before your next monthly period begins. The programme is designed to continue through Year 7 and into Year 8, but you are never locked in.
What if we need to move a lesson?
With at least 24 hours’ notice, I offer a replacement in the same monthly period where a suitable slot is available. If none can be agreed, the lesson is credited to the next month, or refunded proportionately if you are not continuing. With less notice, the monthly fee is unchanged. If I cancel and no replacement can be agreed, the lesson is refunded proportionately.
How do I pay?
Nothing is charged for booking the call. If you decide to go ahead, I send a secure payment link for the first month once we have agreed the weekly time and start date.
What about safeguarding?
I hold an Enhanced DBS check with a children’s barred list check, issued in August 2026. Lessons are arranged with parents, a parent stays contactable during every lesson and is welcome to sit in, and I never contact pupils through personal social media.
